Dental veneers are very thin porcelain shells that are bonded to the surface of the teeth to change their length, shape, color or size. They are often an ideal solution for teeth that are broken or chipped, worn down, discolored, misaligned, irregularly shaped or uneven. Dental veneers can change your appearance, boost your self-confidence and give you the smile you’ve always dreamed of!
To prepare your tooth for a dental veneer, your DC Dental Spa dentist will remove a very small amount of enamel from the surface of the tooth. Next, an impression or model of the tooth is made, and the veneers are custom-made to match the color and look of your natural teeth.
Once the custom-made veneer is ready, your DC Dental Spa dentist will examine its color and fit and trim the veneer to ensure it is comfortable and attractive. Your natural tooth will be cleaned, polished and gently etched to facilitate the bonding process. Next, a special cement will be applied to the veneer, which is then placed on your natural tooth. After the dentist properly positions the veneer, a special light is applied to it to cure the cement. Finally, the dentist will evaluate your bite and complete any necessary final adjustments.
Dental veneers are a natural-looking solution to many dental problems, and the porcelain material is long-lasting and stain resistant. Dental veneers are less invasive than many other treatment options, and they do not require extensive alterations to your natural teeth.

With proper care that includes regular brushing, flossing and dental check ups, veneers can last for years. Following good oral hygiene practices is important to keeping your veneers looking great, but they do not require any special care.
